Organizations Are Just At the Start of a Transformation

April 14, 2025

Good morning! When you think of the crack of dawn, do you think of it as the very first light of day, usually about an hour before sunrise, ORas the moment of sunrise — or something else? I suppose for many adolescents it might be at about noon. Resilience:  Might it apply to Rory?

  • I am blessed to have several readers who respond back to me regularly and I just want them (you) to know how very grateful I am.
  • It’s not only the rain, but the intensity of the rain, in other words, how hard it falls during a period of time.
    • Over the last 55 years, some locations have seen the intensity of rain increase significantly (~25% – ~38%), which means what, who knows?
    • Here in Minnesota the average intensity has increased ~25% compared to the year 1970.
    • You can fill the rain barrel faster, for sure, that would be one thing.
    • Counterintuitively, places like Tampa and Eugene have seen a 35%+ decrease in the rate at which the rain barrel gets filled.  (Climate Central, 2025)
  • At the risk of over-simplifying, here is what you need to know about artificial intelligence:
    • Make it work for you, not the other way around;
    • Use your data to achieve your objectives; don’t waste time with distractions (there goes a squirrel!);
    • Ask yourself:  Am I better off using this artificial intelligence right now, or am I veering off course?
    • It’s a tool; use the right tool at the right time in the right way for the right reason.
  • Do you believe this?  You should.
    • Internal marketing is as important — perhaps more important — than external marketing.
  • Courtesy of a friend and mentor I’m reading Harari’s latest book, Nexus.
    • I will let you know more about it down the road.
  • Organizations are just at the start of a massive transformation in people management, aka, human resources —
    • but the time to act is now, as people functions will play a critical role in helping them navigate a more complex and uncertain future.
    • Over the next decade, they must take significant strides toward a value driven, human-centered, and tech-enabled approach to people management.
    • This will mean overhauling the people operating system to be simpler, more strategic, and more fluid than it is now.
    • Such a transformation will boost organizational effectiveness as well as employee engagement and productivity.
    • Regardless of their starting point, organizations should embrace the opportunities in adopting this powerful new people management model
    • and use it to create value for the business.  (Komm, Etc., et al., 2025)
      • A strategic-level outline:
      • Hyper personalize the employee experience;
      • Create a frictionless organization;
      • Elevate Humanness;
      • Automate the functions and tasks that don’t need human interaction — invest in technology and change;
      • Streamline.
