Good morning! Are your trees tapped? When you have been gone for a period of time how do you merge back into the 80 MPH work environment? Do you focus on catching up — or do you focus more on refreshing, and restarting a’new?
- Here in Minnesota, the Feast of Patrick is often associated with blizzards, high school basketball tournaments (long before the college Madnesses were invented)…
- … and a never-ending debate as to whether gluttonous mountains of cardboard-like fried fish, Patrick himself, or some sort of church ritual is more important.
- As the pendulum swings, so emerges a different annual winner of these decades-old debates.
- Oh, and the epic snowstorms?
- There were only two or three in the last century concurrent with March 17, with those rare occasions providing fuel to support many of the fascinating fictions.
- Anomalies often establish new norms.
- The facts are unimportant because the tales of ten-foot snow drifts are more interesting — compelling — than reporting and retelling the facts.
- It’s not unlike the 3,000,000 people who report having been personally present for Woodstock back in 1969.
- Sometimes what you want least you need most.
- I spent the better part of the last week enjoying the view from the 6th floor penthouse of our local hospital.
- The scenery included Bald Eagles, a variety of skyscapes looking eastward, and a melting river with shifting ice floats.
- My room assignment had me wondering if I had unknowingly given my entire estate to the hospital in exchange for the ***** room.
- Turns out that would not have been possible because if that had been true I’d still be on the basement level at best.
- But, something brought that room, indescribable pain, the hope for a cure, ~30 or more healthcare workers, modern technology, and me together seeking relief.
- I had never encountered that particular perspective of our city.
- Probably caused somewhat by a variety of drugs, I was periodically convinced I was in Portland, Seattle, or nearby environs.
- Perspective… always so important to be aware of the other 359 degrees of it.
- Our daughter and her family — God bless them — brought the Feast of Patrick to our house one day early.
- Sorry for stepping on your day, Urho, but we are an anticipatory society and it was 100% the correct thing to do.
- Delicious, too!
